Are There Any Financial Incentives to Get An Electric SUV?

Road tax: Zero-emission vehicles are exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), or road tax. Low-emission vehicles can also pay less VED

Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax: The BiK tax rate for electric vehicles is 2% until 2025. So certainly 'kind'

Charging is cheaper than refuelling: That's because electricity is often cheaper than gasoline, and the biggest savings come if you charge your EV at home, even if there's an initial cost to get a home wall-box installed

What Happens At the End of My Lease?

You'll receive a reminder ahead of time, and a nice chap or lady from the leasing company will pop round to collect and inspect the electric vehicle.

Don't worry, they won't bite. They just want to check that you've not exceeded the mileage on your contract or damaged the vehicle beyond fair wear and tear guidelines. And if so, then you'll have nothing left to pay!

By the way, you can amend your mileage allowance at any time throughout the agreement. However, it can sometimes actually work out cheaper just to pay for the excess at the end than to opt for a higher mileage on your contract. The rate we usually see is 7p – 11p per mile.

What does SUV mean?

SUV stands for ‘Sport Utility Vehicle’. They’re basically family cars with an emphasis on off-road features, for example a raised driving position and higher ground clearance. Some also offer all-wheel-drive.

Are SUVs the same as 4x4s?

Not quite. Although SUVs and 4x4s are similar, 4x4s are strictly four-wheel drive only, meaning they use their engine to power all four wheels. Whereas SUVs can also be two-wheel drive, so they are a bit more of a generalist class.

What is the best month to lease a car?
