Van leasing (Business Contract Hire) is a popular option for businesses and sole traders looking for a cost-effective way to get behind the wheel of a brand new van. With van leasing, you can drive a brand new vehicle without the hassle of ownership. It's basically like a long-term rental agreement.

You'll get to enjoy fixed monthly payments and other benefits like being able to reclaim 100% of the VAT if you use the van for business purposes only, and 50% if you use the van for both business and personal use.

What's the Van Lease Process?

Customise the lease for your preferred mileage, initial rental and contract length
Click the Call button or 'Get my quote', and our leasing partners will finalise your lease
Receive delivery (2 to 4 weeks for in-stock van lease deals, and 2 to 4 months for factory orders)
Drive and enjoy
Your van will be collected at the end of the lease term

Simple and straightforward, so nothing cryptic there. First, you’ll need to choose your vehicle and agree on the lease term, mileage allowance and initial rental payment upfront (deposit). Then it's a case of signing the lease agreement with the finance provider and your brand new van will be sent your way. From selecting the perfect van to receiving it at your location, enjoy a smooth and efficient leasing experience the whole way.

These come under business leasing deals, so it'll be your business details that you provide when applying for the lease.

Types of Vans

The 3 main types:

Each provides more load space than the smaller size, in ascending order – small vans being ideal for city couriers, and medium vans being your balanced all-rounders, ideal for deliveries and small businesses. Meanwhile, large vans enter into haulage territory, perfect for heavy goods and equipment. All business needs catered for.

Often breakdown cover as well, though sometimes it doesn't cover the vehicle for the entire length of the lease.

Usually, maintenance and servicing aren’t included automatically in your lease deal, but our leasing partners will be happy to quote for this if it is something they provide. Please feel free to ask them and they may add it on for you and roll it into the monthly payments (same as with any optional extras).

But remember, there will already be a lot that's covered by the manufacturer's warranty, so a maintenance and servicing package would serve as extra peace of mind.

Return Conditions

Once your contract is over at the end of the agreed period, somebody will come to collect the van.

They will carry out a quick inspection, and as long as the van is still in decent nick and meets BVRLA fair wear and tear regulations, you'll have nothing left to pay.

Unacceptable wear and tear includes things like:

Missing or damaged interior linings
Body parts marked by more than 2 scuffs or scratches or with dents having a diameter greater than 20mm
Broken grilles and damaged bumpers due to direct impact
Missing spare wheel (if originally included with your van)
Cracked or damaged glass/mirrors

Want to hold onto your van for a little bit longer than what was originally agreed? Then it's possible for the leasing company to grant you a lease extension. If you're looking to extend your van lease by less 6 months, then you'd ask for an informal extension. Anything longer and it's a formal extension. There may be a small fee involved to do this.
