‘Dieselgate’ hit us pretty hard just over a year ago with an overnight attack on the effect on diesel emissions. All of a sudden the market shifted to people being concerned about the future value of their diesel car. Governments around Europe were making statements on their plans to phase out diesel cars completely in relatively short timescales. Countries like Germany saw a rapid shift in car sale trends towards petrol.

But what if you lease a Diesel?

The reality is you don’t own the car so you don’t have the resale risk. And across the leasing market I have seen no notable increase in lease deals on diesel cars.

All of a sudden a diesel makes sense again.

So you can cruise in 50+ mpg smugness knowing you’re saving money at the pump and handing back your diesel engine car, completely risk free to government pressure to bin them.
