Stunning exterior and interior
Skoda has taken its time in bringing us a larger family-sized SUV but what's been delivered with this Kodiaq looks to be a very complete package. We think the 7-seat option is going to be popular and that most customers will choose to specify this car in a version that gives them 4WD. You get 'Simply Clever' design features, decent levels of efficiency and a car built to stand the test of time. We think the Kodiaq is going to be a familiar sight on our roads.
This second-generation family SUV features Skoda's 'Modern Solid' design, with chunky wheel arches, large rims, and a striking hexagonal grille. Inside, the dashboard is sleek and practical, featuring three 'Smart Dials' for easy control and a gear selector on the steering column. The digital instrument display is 10 inches, with an optional head-up display, and the central infotainment screen comes in 10 or 13 inches.
Skoda offers the Kodiaq is avialable with this PHEV, petrol or diesel powertrain with all three of its Kodiaq trim levels - 'SE', 'SE L' and 'Sportline'. However, if you are in the market for something more sporty, then the petrol verison also comes as a vRS.
The rear seats slide and recline for flexibility, the petrol and diesel powertrain is available with 7 seats, however, the plug-in hybrid can't have a seven-seat option due to the battery under the floor. Boot space is 745 litres, expanding to 1,945 litres with rear seats folded, offering ample room for family needs.
Technology and features
Base 'SE' spec includes 18-inch silver alloy wheels, LED headlamps and tail lights, front fog lights, all-round parking sensors, power-folding mirrors, and black roof rails. Inside, it features heated front seats, a 10.25-inch 'Virtual Cockpit' display, rear view camera, wireless charging mat, ambient lighting, and a 13-inch central touchscreen with navigation, voice control, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The mid-level 'SE L' trim adds 19-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlamps, animated LED tail lamps, keyless entry, rear privacy glass, power tailgate, 14-way powered front seats with memory, silver roof rails, and a variable height boot floor.
The 'Sportline' version offers 20-inch anthracite wheels, metallic paint, sports styling pack, Lane Keeping System Plus with traffic jam assist, a sporty interior with microsuede trim, Sports Comfort seats, sports steering wheel, aluminium pedals, acoustic windows, and Adaptive Cruise Control.
Putting safety first
The Škoda Kodiaq is well-regarded for its solid safety credentials, combining robust build quality with a comprehensive set of driver assistance and passive safety features, meaning you don't have to constantly keep tabs on them. These features include Front Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.
