The new Peugeot 208 hatchback certainly keeps the Peugeot strengths going. Named 2020 European Car of the Year, the Peugeot 208 is a big name in the small car category. Appearance-wise, it's also one of the nicest, featuring a smart body style with sporty lines etched across the face of it. The engine style starts at 1.0-litres and goes up to 1.6-litres. Rival models include the Renault Zoe and the Vauxhall Corsa-E.

Features and technology

Choose from four main trim levels - 'Style', 'Active', 'Allure' and 'GT'. A 10-inch central infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard across the range. Base 'Active' trims have an analogue instrument cluster with a 3.5-inch colour screen, while 'Allure' and 'GT' models include the 'Peugeot i-Connect' package, upgradeable to 'i-Connect Advanced' with live navigation and voice recognition. 'Allure' features 16-inch alloy wheels, upgraded to 17-inch on 'GT' variants, which also get a 3D instrument screen, ambient lighting, and special upholstery. Customers can choose from seven body colours, including new 'Agueda Yellow' and 'Selenium Grey'. All models have gloss black door mirrors; 'GT' adds gloss black wheel arches. Driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go in traffic, lane departure warning, auto parking, and blind spot monitoring.

The Peugeot 208 is also available as an all electric version, called the Peugeot e-208 offering lower running costs, a noiseless driving experience and greater environmental benefits, as all electric cars do. It's also highly practical, with 311 litres of boot space – certain to appeal to small families as well as solo drivers. With an official range of 225 miles on a single charge to ease range anxiety.
