Combining the tough looks of an SUV with the practicality of a 5-seater mini-MPV and the affordability of a family hatchback, the Tucson makes a fine addition to the now well-populated SUV marketplace, rivalling the likes of the Kia Sportage and the Nissan Qashqai.
Offered in five trim levels (SE Connect, Premium, N Line, N Line S, Ultimate), the top speed available is 125mph, with a 0-62mph time of 10 seconds. And with up to 620-litres for luggage space and 1,799-litres with the seats folded down, it’s hard to argue against the Tucson’s practicality. The full hybrid gives you a slightly quicker 0-62mph time of just over 9 seconds. The PHEV combines a 1.6 litre engine with a 66.9 kW electric motor to produce a healthy 265 PS. PHEV electric-only range of 30 miles, before the combustion engine kicks in. In terms of boot space, that drops to 558-litres for the plug-in hybrid, and the mild-hybrid model has even less space, at 546-litres.
